If you are subject to persecution, substantial discrimination or human rights abuses in your home country then these visas will allow you and you family to live, work and study indefinitely in Australia.

Refugee / Protection Visa: Practices

Global Special Humanitarian Visa (subclass 202)
{APPLY OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA}

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • be subject to substantial discrimination in your home country

  • be proposed for this visa by a person or organisation in Australia.

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • have no debts to the Australian government

  • sign the Australian values statement 

Protection Visa (subclass 866)
{APPLY IN AUSTRALIA}

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • have arrived in Australia legally

  • be a refugee or engage Australia’s complementary protection criteria

  • meet identity requirements

  • not be barred from lodging a permanent protection visa application

  • not have previously held a Temporary Protection visa (subclass 785); Temporary Safe Haven visa (subclass 449); Temporary (Humanitarian Concern) visa (subclass 786), or Safe Haven Enterprise visa (subclass 790)

  • meet security requirements

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • sign the Australian values statement 

Refugee Category Visas (subclass 200, 201, 203 and 204)
{APPLY OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA}

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • face persecution in your home country.

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused 

  • have no debts to the Australian government

  • sign the Australian values statement 

Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785)
{APPLY IN AUSTRALIA}

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • not be able to apply for a Permanent Protection visa (subclass 866)

  • be a refugee or satisfy Australia’s complementary protection criteria

  • meet identity requirements

  • not be barred from lodging a temporary protection visa application

  • meet security requirements

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • sign the Australian values statement 

Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (subclass 790)
{APPLY IN AUSTRALIA}

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • not be able to apply for a Permanent Protection visa (subclass 866)

  • be a refugee or satisfy Australia’s complementary protection criteria

  • meet identity requirements

  • not be barred from lodging a this visa application

  • meet security requirements

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • sign the Australian values statement
