Visitor Visa: Practices

Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601)
{APPLY OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA}

Visit Australia as often as you wish in a 12-month period. Stay up to 3 months each time you enter Australia.

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • have an eligible passport​​

  • be a genuine visitor

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • have no debts to the Australian government

eVisitor (subclass 651)
​{APPLY OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA}

Visit Australia as often as you wish in a 12-month period. Stay up to 3 months each time you enter Australia

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • have an eligible passport

  • be a genuine visitor

  • have enough money

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • have no debts to the Australian government

Transit visa (subclass 771)

This visa lets people be in Australia for up to 72 hours before they must leave Australia.

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • have health insurance

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • have no debts to the Australian government

  • sign the Australian values statement 

Visitor (subclass 600)
{APPLY IN OR OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA}

This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to see family and friends or for purposes other than business or medical treatment.

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • be a genuine visitor

  • have enough money

  • have health insurance

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • have no debts to the Australian government

Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462)

This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) have an extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip.

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • have an eligible passport

  • be aged 18 to 30

  • not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 or subclass 417

  • meet education requirement

  • have Functional English

  • have a letter of support

  • have enough money

  • not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused 

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • have no debts to the Australian government

  • sign the Australian values statement 

Working Holiday visa (subclass 417)

This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - and Canadian, French and Irish citizens 18 to 35 years old (inclusive) - have their first extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip.

To be eligible for this visa, you must;

  • have an eligible passport

  • be aged 18 to 30 or for Canadian, French and Irish citizens 18 to 35 

  • not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 or subclass 417

  • have enough money

  • not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused 

  • meet the health and character requirements

  • have no debts to the Australian government

  • sign the Australian values statement
